The Launch of 107.5 Wish FM

It’s a wish come true for DWNU 107.5.

On August 10, Daniel Razon’s Breakthrough & Milestone Productions International, Inc. officially launched 107.5 Wish FM, in a live concert at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The concert featured bands such as Rivermaya, 6Cyclemind, Sandwich, Imago and Spongecola, as well as artists like Richard Poon, Mitoy Yonting, Jonalyn Viray, Gerald Santos and Jeffrey Hidalgo.

In addition, the management of the station granted ‘wishes’ to various individuals. One such wish involved progeria-stricken Rochelle Pondare, whose wish was to be a recording artist despite suffering from premature aging at 17.

Wish FM also introduced the first-ever mobile FM bus. The said vehicle will travel to different places within Metro Manila, with the intent of promoting the station to its listeners.

The launch of Wish FM was not complete without its staff of DJs. The new station introduced industry veterans Hill Billy Willy and Uncle Harry, as well as DJs Princess, Alice, Jelly Kisses, Flynn Rider, and Russell.

Wish FM is now the third iteration of the 107.5 frequency currently occupied by the Progressive Broadcasting Corporation. The station was previously known as NU 107 (hard rock/alternative format) from 1987-2010, and 107.5 Win Radio (hot adult contemporary format) from 2010-14.

The transition from Win Radio to Wish FM began on June 26, when BMPI took over management of 107.5. This led to the resignation of Manny Luzon as executive vice president of PBC and subsequent relocation of Win Radio to erstwhile sister station 91.5 Big Radio two days later.

Soon after, the unnamed station adopted a broader adult contemporary format, and was initially broadcast as P.S. FM before BMPI decided to launch under the more catchy Wish FM brand.

The rebranded station also relocated from their old booth at AIC Gold Tower in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, to the temporary UNTV Center in Philam Homes, Quezon City. Win Radio, however, will continue to occupy the AIC booth next door.

With that, let’s wish the new station good luck on its first week of broadcast.

Rheena is actually known as Russell. Katabi niya sa The Wish List (afternoon program) si Flynn Rider or Rodel Flordeliz sa totoong buhay.

I guess, kaya Wish-format itong 107.5 ngayon kasi Mr. D. Razon wants to bring back the glory days of FM sa local airwaves natin, like what he aimed sa kanyang Radyo la Verdad on AM. But I WISH, Mr. Henares to sell the entire network kay Razon.

      • Nameless says:

Look at the ABOUT US tab ng untvweb.com.

107.9FM was once occupied by an electrodance-inspired station with a strong signal. Na pwede niyang bilhin yun for another NU107? He need to rebuild the rock industry despite the fact na mas umaangat na ang EDM industry. I suggest na sa BGC niya na lang itayo ang studio ng NU107 niya, since wala pang media network along that big business district.

(OFF-TOPIC): Solar News Channel to 9TV/9News. Your thoughts? Medyo gumagaya na sila sa ibang bansa.

      • Kinda generic to me that name. Parang doon sa TV5.

Regarding the NU revival thing, it would be better if Jam 88.3 gets his services. Total his rock expertise in running NU will help in Jam.

    • Nameless says:

Yes. Pero ang nandun lang sa BGC ay yung marketing dept ng tv5 which is yung “Media5”. Exactly nasa Marajo Tower sila. Pero yung tipong complete media network talaga w/ studios & radio booths, like what I have suggested, wala pa talagang ganun sa BGC. & RJ-RMN-Brigada in Makati.

      • Yung Mandaluyong-Pasig-Makati area is typically the center of Metro Manila.

They really hate those English-speaking stations kasi pang-Conyo daw, masyadong pang-mayaman, etc.

  4. James Ty III says:

Ralph, I just learned that Monica Verallo is no longer a DJ with WISH FM. She is now working with San Miguel Corporation and her stint on UNTV’s Rise and Shine is only a racket.

This I got from DJ Russell (Rheena Villamor) of WISH FM just a while ago.

    • Again, they just reformatted, so wag ka munang magmakaawa sa kanila.

Saka, masyadong marami nang ‘masa’ stations sa bansa, so tama lang na mag-reformat ang Wish FM into a more ballad-driven station.

      • Jake-jake Jacinto says:

The person who commented that he wishes that 107.5 Wish FM Manila “will be reformatted back again into a Hot AC station and it will change its language from English to Tagalog” is actually “Archie Paredes,” a Captain Obvious whom Pinoy Nostalgia has banned from the discussion group since August last year.

  6. Clark says:

I’ve been listening to this station courtesy of an officemate who listens via streaming. If I were to sum up my thoughts on this station, it’s the lamest in all the FM band. Walang impact with their station name, ID, jingles etc. Is it niche, is it masa? Sayang si Hill Billy Willy (who i read somewhere is the station manager?)

  7. Gab says:

It’s been a year since they first heard on the airwaves. Roadshow of Jelly Kiss is one of the top-rated programs of Wish 1075 because artists drop by the Wish FM Bus for their live performances.
