I Do and Other Programming Changes on ABS-CBN

Following the conclusion of ‘Pinoy Big Brother: All In’, a few changes were made on ABS-CBN’s programming.

The most significant of these changes will come this weekend, as ‘I Do’, dubbed the first ‘realiserye’ on the Kapamilya network, premieres this Saturday. Hosted by Judy Ann Santos, the upcoming reality program will feature nine couples with an existing relationship, all of which will vie for a P1 million cash prize, a house and lot, and a grand wedding.

Joining Juday in the upcoming series will be co-host Jason Gainza, along with life coach Pia Acevedo and marriage counselor Dr. Julian Montano.

The nine couples will reside in the ‘I Do’ village in Cavite, where they will undergo a series of challenges that will test their ability to forge a strong relationship. The council, led by Acevedo and Dr. Montano, will evaluate and decide the fate of each couple at the end of each challenge, while fan votes will determine the winner of the aforementioned prizes at the end of the series.

‘I Do’ will air every Saturday after ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’, and every Sunday after ‘Rated K’.

Weekday Programming Changes on ABS-CBN

Both ‘Kapamilya Gold’ and ‘Primetime Bida’ entered Monday with a different look after PBB ended.

On ‘Kapamilya Gold’, the lineup was reduced to only three programs, and as a result, the telenovela ‘Ana Manuela’ extended its running time to compensate for the departure of ‘PBB Uber’.

‘Ana Manuela’ will now air two episodes per day, and will be seen after ‘It’s Showtime’ and before the News and Current Affairs block.

Over at ‘Primetime Bida’, the Koreanovela ‘Miss Ripley’ took over the slot vacated by ‘PBB Primetime’. The entry of ‘Miss Ripley’ marked the return of the Koreanovela to ABS-CBN’s primetime lineup after over seven months of airing reality programs.

Starring Lee Da Hae (of ‘My Girl’ fame) as the seductive yet manipulative Emily, and Park Yoo Chun (of ‘Rooftop Prince’ fame) as the handsome and rich hotelier Marco, ‘Miss Ripley’ airs after ‘Aquino and Abunda Tonight’.

Speaking of Koreanovelas, the re-run of ‘Lovers in Paris’ is now on its final week. The second of a series of classic ABS-CBN Asianovelas to re-air on the network will end its run Friday morning.

Also concluding on Friday morning is the latest season of ‘The Singing Bee’. The highly-rated game show, hosted by Roderick Paulate and Amy Perez, will take a bow after a successful ten-month run.

Both programs’ timeslots will be taken over by the delayed telecast of the FIBA World Cup starting next week.

The FIBA World Cup on Channel 2 will be seen at 9:30 am on weekdays and 10 am on weekends. Sunday games will be aired before ASAP while Matanglawin will be aired at 9:30 am.

ABS-CBN Sports+Action 23 will air the FIBA World Cup games at 12 nn, 7 pm and 9:30 pm. Sunday games on 23 will be aired before the UAAP and again after Sports Unlimited.

Karen Bordador, who is an FHM model and a DJ on Monster Radio, is one of the contestants in I Do. Its Sunday edition will be followed by GGV at 9:45 pm and Sunday’s Best at 10:30.

    • And since delayed ang FIBA World sa Dos, may fighting chance ang GMA dito kahit konti with Return of the Wife, Basta Everyday Happy, Sarap Diva and Maynila.

Sa Sports+Action naman, maapektuhan ang The Score dahil sa FIBA World.

And Mr. Sunday, Saturday editions of I Do will be followed by Banana Split: Extra Scoop, The Bottomline and Sports Unlimited.

    • Sana lang wag na sila magdagdag ng housemates sa kasagsagan ng season like what they did to Daniel Matsunaga. Pati na rin ang mga houseguest, bawasan na rin. Nagiging boring at predictable ang PBB dahil dito.

This will be the network’s last chance to showcase their ‘bahay ni Kuya’, so they should do their best to end PBB on a high note.

      – ABS-CBN’s contact with Endemol will expire in 2015.
      – There were 11 aired editions/seasons of PBB.
      – PBB All-Stars incoming?
      – Rumors about “the last season of PBB to be aired next year” are rumors.

      – In total, Ana Manuela has 137 episodes.

      • In essence, the ABS-Endemol deal is still subject for renewal. Kaya may possibility na mababalik ang PBB under the renewed deal.

As for Ana Manuela, I can sense that ABS is airing an hour or better’s worth of that teleserye in order to shorten its run. Right now Ana Manuela is up against The Half Sisters and Dading of GMA’s Afternoon Prime.

    • Manny has one too many jobs now. Boxer/congressman/basketball player and coach/minister/TV host, that’s a stressful resume. This upcoming Pacman show, I seriously doubt it.

And remember, he lost to Marquez two years ago because he took too many commitments of different natures at the same time. If he loses to Algieri in November, again blame his extra-curriculars for getting in the way.

  2. Heard from the grapevine that ABS will air new afternoon offerings a teleserye of Jane, and another one from JaDine, may isa pa silang nakalineup na soap na Forevermore which is bka pumalit sa PureLove. Madaming on going productions ngaun ang Dos, also after I Do, The Voice daw ulit, sana ma retain si Apl as coach.

Malamang they will launch new shows after Fiba, mejo mababa ratings ng Ana Manuela, kya binibilisan na nila.

Hawak Kamay is doing well with the introduction of Lyca and JK, kaya malamang ma extend ito,

    • Madami palang pinaplano ang ABS towards the last quarter of 2014. Tapos they got a lookalike of Kathryn Bernardo in Nadine Lustre, and an ex-PBB housemate in James Reid, na mas bagay sana sa GMA if not for the mismanagement that is occurring at the Artist Center.

Malaking risk yung Ana Manuela, kasi hindi na popular ngayon ang mga telenovela unlike during the mid 90s-early 2000s. Good attempt by ABS though.

As for Hawak Kamay, big risk din yung addition nila Lyca at JK, pero it’s paying off,

  4. Ffghhj543 says:

ABS-CBN forgot to bill ‘Miss Ripley’ as loosely based on a true story (yep) of a woman who faked her academic credentials in order to become a curator and art professor that was a scandal in her home country.
