Whether the viewers and the hosts like it or not, it seems like ‘It’s Showtime’ is starting to become a daily magnet for controversy.
The latest incident involving a host of ‘It’s Showtime’ took place yesterday morning. Billy Crawford was detained in a Taguig police precinct after running amok outside a nearby police station within Bonifacio Global City.
The incident took place hours after ABS-CBN held its annual ‘Star Magic Ball’ inside Makati Shangri-La Hotel, in which Crawford was with his girlfriend Coleen Garcia.
Crawford may face charges of direct assault, resistance of arrest, defiance of authority, and malicious mischief.
For some reason, the infamous ‘It’s Showtime’ curse is rearing its ugly head yet again. Early this year, co-host Vhong Navarro was assaulted by a group of men, led by Cedric Lee, inside a Taguig condominium.
Then just weeks ago, Vice Ganda was summoned by the MTRCB for his ‘armpit’ humor on a July 28 episode of ‘It’s Showtime’, which the latter and the National Council for Children’s Television believe is a ‘bad example for children’.
These incidents precede those that happened the previous year, such as Vice’s controversial joke on Jessica Soho and Anne Curtis’ drunken escapades in a Taguig nightclub.
While the hosts have denied the so-called ‘It’s Showtime’ curse, it is clear that they need to grow up in order to minimize such incidents. For all the show’s success and popularity, its hosts’ immaturity continues to be a hindrance to its longevity.
They may not be like the ‘dabarkads’ of ‘Eat Bulaga’ that have been virtually together for over a decade, but the hosts that lead the ‘madlang people’ must grow up together and learn from all of these mistakes in order to emerge as better individuals. After all, maturity and wisdom will always be the keys to long-term success.
For Billy Crawford, getting out of prison a changed man will be his toughest ordeal yet. And for the hosts of ‘It’s Showtime’, dealing with this latest controversy will be more difficult than they could have ever imagined.
As Showtime will turn 5 years old next month, I do not know if the whole Showtime Family will reunite in time for the celebration with this incident.
If they aren’t careful of what they are, the reputation of the noontime variety show will crush gradually.
Well, this noontime show should be rated as SPG, like the now-defunct “WowoWillie”. Kasi almoat all of its hosts are having issues & troubles na. Or else, this show should be ended agad. And replace it w/ old MTB personalities.
Mas love ko ang Eat Bulaga kapag noontime dahil na rin sa kanilang practical jokes but there are some segments na dapat ibalik. Yung Trip na Trip & yung legendary “Give Love on Christmas” every December. And they should eliminate that “Toorooroo” girl. Masyado nang OA.
at di lang yan, ang nakakasawang pinoy henyo at kapag nanonood ka ng juan for all, all for juan sa studio, para ka lang nasa bahay nanonood. halos lahat ng game shows ay ginagawa nila sa barangay kaysa sa studio.
I remember na minsan na ring naitampok sa REEL TIME ng News TV ‘yung about sa Juan For All and its behind the scenes. According to its trio hosts, the JoWaPao, kaya sila nagto-tour along barangays kasi para ma-reach pa nila lalo ang masa, lalo na sa mga kababayan natin na hindi afford daw ang makanood ng Eat Bulaga ng live sa Broadway Centrum.
Yes. Pinoy Henyo nowadays seems so nakaka-umay na. They should think of some segments na pwedeng ibalik or ‘yung bago sa panlasa ng mga viewers. I suggest, ibalik nila ang Ikaw at Echo.
Yung Pinoy Henyo game inadopt na ng Boys’ Night Out sa Magic 89.9 as ‘Yes, Maybe, No’, with Jojo the Love Survivor as their frequent participant. Well, pinasikat na nila talaga ang Pinoy Henyo but I also agree na kailangang i-retire na ito in favor of new segments.
Again, nagiging charitable cause na ‘tong Juan for All, which is a good thing.
Kaya nga may phrase na ‘such as’ dahil examples lang sila. The rest can be found on the links.
Saka yes, SPG ang ilagay sa It’s Showtime. And the hosts must grow up and learn from these mistakes kung gusto nilang tumagal ang It’s Showtime.
As for EB, nagiging mini-telethon na with the Juan for All segment. Unlike before na namimigay sila ng P1M in segments like Laban o Bawi, mas ineemphasize na nila ang pagtulong sa iba with the Juan for All rather than giving out big prizes to studio contestants. Which is a good thing, para maging aware ang mga tao sa kapaligiran at sa kaayusan ng kanilang barangay.
One final note: I actually like Shine. Konting polishing pa and she’ll be ok.
For Juan for All, logistical concerns ang dahilan kaya sa MM at Luzon sila usually pumupunta.
Indeed.
Even eat bulaga has their share of controversy din nman even before i think mas may disadvantage lng tlga kasi ang power ng social media.
Yes may controversy na rin ang EB, pero not as frequent as what Showtime is enduring these days, since some of the hosts are wiser and more mature in tackling these situations, kaya halos napre-prevent nila ito.
For Showtime to stay on the air longer, their hosts need to grow up. Sinasabi ko na ‘to nang paulit-ulit. Huwag silang mag-act ng childish both onstage and off.
I get you. And Im with you for them to mature, I think they are not cursed but it just goes to show how young they are in the industry. I mean lhat nman sila npasikat ng Showtime kaya di maiiwasan na magkamali sila. But what no one cant deny the fact na sa lahat ng shows, sila tlga ay kung pamilya tlga magturingan. And the thing about family is they stick together when hard times are there.
Showtime is definitely more talked about in social media, but sometimes they are talked about for the wrong reasons.
Willie Revillame’s noontime shows have been cancelled because of so many controversial incidents that happened. If Showtime can clean up their act onstage and off, they won’t be able to suffer the same fate as Willie’s.
Eat Bulaga will surely gain from this.
It’s Showtime needed some extensive strategies including given time for the madlang pipol on social media to suggest a segment and how it looks like.
And i also seen the transition of Ryan Rems from Funny One grand champion to being the regular cast (even a segment), pero some netizens posted (for honesty), medyo may pagkakorny ang sense ng jokes niya unlike Vice Ganda’s.
With AlDub reigning like wildfire, kailangan talaga ng Showtime ng tulong from the so-called ‘madlang pipol’. Pero hindi ‘to madali, given that most of the ‘madlang pipol’ are increasingly being converted to ‘dabarkads’ with AlDub.
Ryan needs more training, honestly. May Mr. M sila, so why not do it. Porket grand winner siya sisikat kaagad. Kailangan paghirapan muna ito. Saka hindi galing sa blocktimer ang Showtime, so it’s up to ABS to hone the guy’s skills.
YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS, MY GOOD FRIEND?
Better wait and see. We don’t believe in rumors.
