A trio of Kapamilya teleseryes will be launched on the same day.
To kick off its 2015 slate of new programs, ABS-CBN will have its ‘Kapamilya Thank You Day’ on January 19, and as part of the occasion, three teleseryes will have their pilot episodes aired throughout the day. The new teleseryes are:
Flordeliza
Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin will headline this upcoming teleserye, making it their first project together on the Kapamilya side since 2002. They will be joined by Desiree del Valle and child actresses Ashley Sarmiento and Rhey Bustamante.
‘Flordeliza’ will focus on two families whose daughters will become the best of friends, only to be torn apart by a heartbreaking revelation. The title itself will be based on the names of the aforementioned lead cast.
The series will also feature Carlo Aquino, Elizabeth Oropesa, Tetchie Agbayani, and Juan Rodrigo in supporting roles.
Oh My G!
Once a supporting cast member of ‘Be Careful with My Heart’, Janella Salvador will now headline her own teleserye with ‘Oh My G!’
The new series will focus on a teenager’s struggles following the death of her parents, and is said to be inspired by the teachings of St. Teresa of Avila.
Joining Salvador in the light-hearted series will be fellow ‘Be Careful’ castmate Marlo Mortel, ex-‘Pinoy Big Brother’ housemate Manolo Pedrosa, and veteran actors Sunshine Cruz, Dominic Ochoa, John Arcilla, Edgar Allan Guzman, and Janice de Belen.
Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita
‘Pinoy Big Brother’ housemates Jane Oineza, Loisa Andalo and Joshua Garcia will be front and center on the upcoming series ‘Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita’.
The series, which focuses on a daughter’s search for her lost father, will be based on the 1986 film of the same name.
Written by famed scriptwriter Ricky Lee, ‘Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita’ will also feature Vina Morales, Denise Laurel, Christian Vasquez, and Jerome Ponce in supporting roles.
Notwithstanding their dominant performance the previous year, ABS-CBN knows that there are still some improvements to make. The afternoon block Kapamilya Gold, for example, has been left in ruins thanks to the network’s decision to air ‘Kapamilya Blockbusters’ in the midst of rival GMA Afternoon Prime’s string of success.
That said, bringing Kapamilya Gold back to relevance will be ABS-CBN’s priority for the early part of the year. Two of the three new teleseryes will likely be seen in the afternoon, while one will take the place of the seasonal drama ‘Give Love on Christmas’, whose finale will be aired this Friday.
For ABS-CBN, a good start to 2015 is all they need to keep the streak of good fortune going. And three teleseryes premiering on the same day is a great start.
Heard the timeslots:
Oh My G will come place on the timeslot once occupied by Be Careful and Give Love of Christmas, instead of Flordeliza.
Flordeliza and Nasaan Ka will be placed in the timeslot of Kapamilya Blockbusters (right after Showtime),. they will spar their direct competition with the still #1 in the ratings of both Kantar and Nielsen, GMA Afternoon Prime.
Mas light ang tone ng Oh My G, kaya sa umaga siya. Yung Flordeliza kasi mas serious na mala-Cielo de Angelina ang dating, kaya di bagay maging kakumpetensya ni Ryzza.
Saka ABS desperately needed a shot in the arm as far as their Kapamilya ‘Gold’ is concerned. Sobrang talo sila sa ‘The Half Sisters’, ‘Yagit’ at ‘Mga Lihim ni Annasandra’, hence they had to air a pair of new teleseryes just to bring back the ‘gold’ in their Kapamilya Gold.
Hopefully its not too late yet for the kapamilya network to revitalized their Kapamilya Gold slot. mejo matagal tagal na rin na walang serye ang dos sa hapon, thus may solid fan base na ang Kapuso sa hapon. Walang problema ang Oh My G ni Janella since her fans are used to seeing her in that timeslot. mas worried ako sa Kapamilya Gold, mejo kulang sa star power para makahatak ng viewers. mas may premium kasi ang primetime kaya nandun lahat ng sikat na artista ng Dos. iba kasi ang market ng panghapon eh, fear ko lang baka di rin maging gnun ka successful sila, pero ung mga susunod na shows ang magrerate since magkaka idea na ang Dos kung anu ang papatok sa afternoon time slot. pag naayos nila ito morning slot nman ang next target nila. dpat ipasok nila ang Jadine at iba pang loveteams kagaya ng Julia Barreto at Inigo sa next wave of shows, un for sure papanuorin un lalo na sa summer walang pasok.
For now, Kapamilya Gold is starting over. Parang Hapontastic all over again.
As far as I remember ang last na super successful na hapon drama in recent years ng Dos was Kambal Sa Uma. Tpus nun wala they try to revive it with Mundo Man ay Magunaw kaso failed din. Simula ng i delegate ng DOS ang mga sikat na artista sa primetime nawala na rin ang edge nila sa hapon. Malakas na ang 7 sa hapon they need bigger stars. Bea Alonzo’s SBPAK, JaDine’s My App Boyfie, Judy Ann’s HKLM Gerald’s Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin are some shows na kung nilagay sa hapon will surely be a hit among the viewers khit ung HK ni Piolo pde sa hapon, feeling ko lng nman,
Indeed. May surplus sila sa talent kaso some of them ay hindi pa hinog and ready for the big time, hence the further training. They need to take advantage of that depth para hindi masayang yung pinaghirapan nila.
Relatively hyped up ang “Flordeliza” sa “throwback” generation though, dahil sa Jolina-Marvin factor. I actually thought it would follow “Be Careful When I Fart” since that timeslot needed to regain what it lost when the lightserye faltered badly towards the end. But I guess, mas pang-hapon or pre-primetiime ang kwento niya, at mas may fighting chance siyang mag-compete kaya itinapat sa “Yagit.”
Indeed. Mas bagay sa pang-hapon dahil seryoso ang subject matter nito. Posible sa Yagit/Annasandra ito itapat, pero it’s also likely that Flordeliza will face The Half Sisters.
Ano ang papel ni Ina Raymundo sa “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita”?
I don’t know, but she is also in the new movie Halik sa Hangin supporting Gerald Anderson, Julia Montes and JC de Vera.
Wala man lang commercials sa bawat gap sa pilot episode nito.. Puro plugs ng mga programa
The comeback of Kapamilya Gold is off to a slow start. Di maganda to.
You are right Ralph. Oh My G! is off to a good start ratings-wise, but the two new Kapamilya Gold shows garnered single-digit ratings on their premieres. Bet on Your Baby’s ratings fell harshly too. The start of 2015 for the afternoon block is not that impressive. At least four GMA shows reach the top 10 in the weekday ratings rankings right now. Even the overall daily ratings in first half of January 2015 are worse than those in the last several months.
(All based on latest Kantar ratings)
Not even the Jolina-Marvin reunion on Channel 2 made an impact against an afternoon powerhouse like The Half-Sisters.
Eat Bulaga’s drawing power remains influential to Afternoon Prime, which is why they are still dominating the afternoon race.
Eat Bulaga kasi is the only show that is keeping GMA alive. It is produced by a blocktimer in TAPE, Inc., which seems to be comfortable in its relationship with GMA.
Alam ko. May loyal audience kasi ang EB.
If It’s Showtime had a core of loyal audiences, it would have helped Kapamilya Gold somewhat. But as it stands, their audience mostly consists of bandwagoners na nakikisabay lang sa mga pakulo nito. Not a good recipe for success on ABS’ part.
Eat Bulaga has been around because the show has managed to reinvent itself and adapt to the times. Willie Revillame did a good job in competing against EB but his temperament got the better of him at ABS.
Correct. GMA’s Afternoon dramas have benefited from Eat Bulaga. It’s Showtime? They need to build a loyal following first, not with those bandwagon viewers.
Another asianovela to be aired on the Kapamilya Gold starting on Monday, “Fated To Love You” (2014 version).
Fated to Love You is likely to air against Prime Minister and I, which means some of the KGold shows will be pushed back to earlier timeslots.
Not really. They will compete against Annasandra @ 4pm.
I see. Parang ganti nila sa GMA with regards to the latter’s decision to place an Asianovela against a local teleserye in the early evening.
GMA’s afternoon dramas, as you’ve said, are slowly becoming a saving grace for the network. Their weekend programming still stinks, especially on Sundays.
Telebabad is still a poor performer, even with the big names on.
Speaking of Telebabad, Marian Rivera will be back on GMA Telebabad soon. Her new show, based on reports, will tackle lesbian love affairs.
We’ll wait and see about that.
True that. GMA’s plans can change.
Oh My G, according sa napanood kong report from TV Patrol, it was inspired by a life story similar daw sa isang Saint. I forgot the name of that Saint.
The Half Sisters seems to be the topnotcher drama ng GMA ngayon, every afternoon.
I found this article about the state & condition of our local TV drama industry nowadays: http://8list.ph/reasons-why-pinoy-teleseryes-will-never-upgrade-to-hollywood-level/
The Half-Sisters follows the long-running Eat Bulaga on the schedule, hence their success. Yung mga nanonood ng Eat Bulaga usually isusunod nila ito pagkatapos. Those who follow the EB dabarkads through the years know all too well that there were some dramas that became successful because of EB’s drawing power (remember Coney Reyes on Camera, Valiente and Villa Quintana in the 90s?). The Half-Sisters were no exception.
That’s not the case for It’s Showtime. Kung may loyal audience sila, baka magiging successful pa ang mga KGold dramas. But as it stands, It’s Showtime attracts bandwagoners, and it’s not a good recipe for success.
As for the link you placed, clearly we have short attention spans. That is why our local dramas became too cliched.
In the past, local TV thrived on sitcoms that had quality like Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata. But as director Joey Reyes mentioned in an article in Rogue Magazine, programming is now focused on teleseryes with the same old plot. Sitcoms are now shown only on weekends.
Too much of the same thing day in and day out really hurts the TV industry nowadays.
Not only that. Gandang Gabi Vice on Sundays is more like a daily version of It’s Showtime except that GGV is more SPG.
They seem different to me other than Vice is the host and the bandwagoners are everywhere. You can’t compare GGV and It’s Showtime considering their differences to each other.
