It’s been awhile since ‘The Medyo Late Night Show with Jojo A.’ went on air.
Jojo Alejar’s late-night show was last seen on GMA in December of last year, before taking its supposed periodical season hiatus. However, GMA decided not to renew its blocktime deal with JojoATV Productions, producers of the said show, without giving any reason behind it.
The departure of ‘Medyo Late Night’ from GMA leaves ‘The Tim Yap Show’ as the only remaining late-night weekday talk show of the network (the latter also airs on a seasonal basis). Meanwhile, the whereabouts of ‘Medyo Late Night”s new home were being revealed early this month.
On the Facebook page of ‘The Medyo Late Night Show with Jojo A.’, clues regarding the show’s possible return to TV5 were given in the cover photo. Hints of a red necktie and the word ‘Kapatid’ suggest that TV5 may once again play host to Jojo Alejar’s talk show.
The possibility of a return to TV5 was also fueled by the fact that Alejar continues to appear on the said network’s shows despite ‘Medyo Late Night”s brief stint with GMA. Alejar currently appears on the sitcom ‘Mac and Chiz’.
If it’s true that ‘Medyo Late Night’ will return to TV5 this year, the development should help the network’s programming a lot. The former Karunungan, Balita at Opinyon (KBO) block has been airing reruns for the past several months, and with irrelevance and repetition creeping over TV5’s late-night slot, it is time for a change of direction.
Replacing the defunct KBO block with ‘Medyo Late Night’ may be the tonic TV5 desperately needed in order to improve its shallow late-night lineup. And it should benefit them.
It remains to be seen if ‘Medyo Late Night’ will indeed rejoin TV5, but for a network so desperate to get rid of something irrelevant, this is the way to do it.
Actually, they’re are now start taping earlier this month at TV5 Reliance. Maybe this is a co-production agreement between TV5 and JojoATV.
I will be watching because i am just a SOLID FAN of his jokes and punchlines.
I see. Posibleng ipalit ito sa nakakasawa at paulit-ulit na block formerly known as KBO, which is after ReAksyon.
we loves you Gab many thanks 🙂 for the record, we would like to clarify that JOJOATV chose not to renew and transfer to TV5… mas HAPPY TYO DITO 🙂 mabuhay latengihters tuloy ang ligaya yipeee !!! 🙂 much blessings to all …
Ok. At least home na home sa Kapatid si Jojo A. dahil may shows rin siya sa Singko.
Thanks Idol Sir Jojo and Ms. Anna! Just waiting for the launch date. I am and my family are just your one of the fans on your late night comeback. 🙂 – Gab F. H.
*who are waiting for your comeback as the late night talk show king on Channel 5
Hi Sir/Ma’am Admins:
First and Foremost thank you for writing this article on our show 🙂
just for the record lang po … we leave na the kapuso network and choose kapatid network…
again maraming salamat po at mabuhay! 🙂
No problem.
that’s right , my wife is right we chose TV5 🙂 great article though hope to meet you sometime soon… regards and much blessings tsup 😉
You’re welcome. Can’t wait for the show to return to TV5.
Hep hep hooray for Idol Jojo A! – Gab F.H.
I think Jojo A. chose to leave the Kapuso network due to its declining fortunes. Good luck to Jojo A. on his homecoming to TV5!
Although maganda ratings nila despite the fact na nasa late-night slot, it’s their decision to go back to TV5. Again may show din si Jojo A sa Singko so it may be a good decision for them to come back.
Speaking about “The Tim Yap Show,” I think it’s the only upscale show currently airing on GMA, and I think they air that to compete with ABS-CBN, which seems to be stronger in all markets. But to do this, GMA needs to produce shows which cater to the upscale and middle class markets.
True that. They’re too much ‘masa’ to say the least, that’s why they need such shows for the upscale viewers.
Medyo Late Night with Jojo A returns to TV5 starting this Sunday at 10 pm after Wow Mali Pa Rin. It will be weekly and will compete vs Gandang Gabi Vice.
The Medyo Late Night Show will have. a SPECIAL BACK2BACK Episodes on May 10 Sunday at 10pm
…. but its regular programming will start Monday, May 11 onwards every weeknights from 1130 to Midnight.
FYI 🙂 thanks!!!
Thanks for the clarification. The 10 pm Sunday time slot of TV5 is usually reserved for the weekend marathon of Wattpad Presents.
My prediction did come true. With the return of Medyo Late Night, the already repetitive KBO block on TV5 is officially cancelled. Unfortunately it will still air on AksyonTV, but the reruns the next morning have been replaced by Shop Japan.
Regardless, it’s a win-win situation for TV5 and Jojo A.
