Another local adaptation of ‘MariMar’ is now in the works.
GMA recently released a few teasers that hint towards a new version of the Thalia-starred telenovela. The original ‘MariMar’ became a surprise hit in the mid-90s on RPN, and was later remade by the Kapuso network in 2007 with Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
The two short teasers below were released within days of each other.
It is presumed that GMA decided to make a second adaptation of ‘MariMar’ in response to ABS-CBN’s upcoming remake of ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’, starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Both series are expected to premiere in either the third or fourth quarter of this year, depending on the flow of the production.
More information on the ‘MariMar’ remake will come in the next few months, so stay tuned.
As per tabloid reports, Megan Young is one of the considerations to be on a lead role in this remake.
Pero the process is tedious, kaya wala pang official na announcement tungkol diyan.
I’ll just hope that this MariMar remake won’t push through. :v
True that. Masyadong recent ang remake na ito, so it’s best if they can set it aside for another few years.
a much recent remake indeed, unlike sa Pangako Sa ‘Yo remake.
I was wondering. Is it possible for GMA to make a remake of a 90s teleserye done by ABSCBN before? XD
I’m not sure about it. And besides, ABS has the rights to it, kaya mukhang imposible ito.
In that case, GMA has to acquire the rights to remake at least 1 or 2 of ABSCBN’s teleseryes para lumawak muli ang catalog ng former. In return of ABSCBN acquiring Annaliza’s rights from GMA.
Very daunting, but possible, if the two networks make a good deal out of it.
Saka those recent ones were responsible for their ratings turnaround at the time.
IMO: I’m actually getting tired of a remake of Marimar after eight years top billed by DongYan. If the remake is materialized, I ask one humorous question: “Who’s going to voice Fulgoso, the dog of Marimar?”
This shows na napapagod na silang maghanap ng mga teleserye ideas. And with the network losing money, they resort to these rehashes of other series.
yeah, desperado na sila MariMar is one of their highest rated shows kaya ire-remake nila kahit 8 years pa lang..ang question lang mapapantayan kaya nito yung 1st remake?
Yan ang hintayin natin, since it is expected na itatapat ito sa Pangako Sa ‘Yo.
Si Bitoy ang huling nag-voice kay Fulgoso. “Jus mio, Marimar!”
Thanks for the obvious answer, Nameless. I am thinking of the voiceover of Fulgoso on this remake, despite of my tiresome to tune in.
But wait. Kung Ire-remake nga talaga ng GMA ang drama na ito, tataas na naman ang meme exposure ni Senyora Santibanez sa social media, who is known for being so bitter.
Yan ang question na kailangang sagutin! Nasaan si Facundo?
MariMar was eight years ago pa… kung gusto ng GMA na gumawa ng remake, bakit di nila i-reboot ang “Kung Mawawala Ka” (since naging successful ito before) o di kaya “Habang Kapiling Ka”?
Good question. They have several successful teleseryes that they can reboot, pero bakit MariMar na hindi pa isang dekada ang pagitan? It doesn’t make any sense.
kasi nga its their highest rated show, halos 40% daw ang rating nito sa Mega Manila. i like both ‘Kung Mawawala ka’ and ‘Habang Kapiling ka’ classic and original GMA dramas.
Kaso wala pang Kantar noon.
Perhaps.
MariMar? Huwag na yan. 7 – 8 years old is not old enough for a remake, IMO. It should be at least 12 – 15 years old. It’d be better if GMA would have made a remake of any popular 90s teleserye or movie, like “Muling Ibalik ang Tamis ng Pagibig”, “Ikaw Na Sana” or “Del Tierro”.
by the looks of it, wala silang plano. puro yabang ang GMA.
True that.
Well, I don’t think na mayayabang ang GMA. IMO, though.
Better watch the NYE celebrations of past years and see kung bakit hanggang ngayon may sense of yabang itong GMA despite the massive financial losses. Plus their boasts tungkol sa pagiging No. 1 station nila in the Philippines, when in fact hanggang Luzon lang ang kaya nila.
Anything that GMA does in this day and age is out of desperation, out of claims na kaya daw pa rin nilang makipagsabayan sa Dos.
True that. Or any of the TAPE teleseryes of the past.
However, they are still properties of TAPE Inc. And since they have an existing blocktime deal with GMA for Eat Bulaga and The Ryzza Mae Show, the only network that would have the blessing of TAPE for these teleseryes is GMA itself. Whether you like it or not, it’s possible that Agila may end up as a remake on GMA rather than ABS, provided they get permission from TAPE.
But as it stands, hanggang EB at Ryzza na lang ang TAPE. Sorry, but GMA can only do so much.
dati, masyadong bongga ang GMA dramas kasi powerhouse ang mga casting nito (e.g. “Kung Mawawala Ka” – Sunshine Dizon, Eddie Garcia, Hilda Koronel, etc. “Habang Kapiling Ka” – Angelika de la Cruz, Snooky Serna, Albert Martinez, etc. “Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw” – Alice Dixson, Richard Gomez, Christopher de Leon, etc.) kumpara sa mga present dramas…
Nowadays, it is ABS-CBN who has the powerhouse casts. Times and fortunes have changed for both networks.
i agree, they don’t have enough actors now that can compete against ABS talents.
At hindi rin sila maka-attract ng freelancers who can lend supporting roles to any series. It’s obvious na cash-strapped ang GMA, but they keep denying it.
They’re playing safe right now, AFAIK.
Both TV empires are now getting tired of creating innovative ideas for making TV dramas.
Indeed. Too predictable na kasi.
