The Last Three Weeks of ‘Forevermore’; ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ Coming Up

Tonight will be the premiere of ‘Let the Love Begin’, but the Road to ‘Forevermore’ is about to get underway.

ABS-CBN announced that ‘Forevermore’, the top-rated primetime series starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, is now down to its final three weeks. The series is scheduled to end on May 22 after 158 episodes.

The announcement of its impending conclusion came soon after its thanksgiving concert, supposed to be held May 10 at Sitio Pungayan in Sto. Tomas, Benguet, was cancelled due to environmental concerns.

ABS-CBN also confirmed that the replacement of ‘Forevermore’ will be none other than the remake of the classic 2000 teleserye ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’, starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. While the teaser below gave no specific premiere date, ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ is slated to premiere on May 25, based on the timetable set on ‘Forevermore”s conclusion.

‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ was heavily hyped by the network since the end of last year. The teaser introduced viewers to the four main characters, which will be played by Kathryn Bernardo (Yna Macaspac, originally by Kristine Hermosa), Daniel Padilla (Angelo Buenavista, originally by Jericho Rosales), Jodi Sta. Maria (Amor Powers, originally by Eula Valdes) and Angelica Panganiban (Claudia Buenavista, originally by Jean Garcia).

The impending teleserye return of the KathNiel tandem should pose some concern to GMA’s debuting teleserye ‘Let the Love Begin’. Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid are considered greenhorns in a lead role at this point, so it remains to be seen if their performance on the latter series will give them a boost to their budding careers.

With everything set, expect a smooth transition from the unexpectedly successful LizQuen pairing to the well-established KathNiel duo. Three weeks from now, a changing of the guard is in order on Primetime Bida’s third slot.

      • i think that will be the primetimebida formula for now. Young Loveteams will occupy the 820PM timeslot. PSY will be directed by Rory B Quintos. While Jadine’s OTWOL will be helmed by returning kapamilya director Andoy Ranay.

      • Direk Rory also directed the original PSY so he should be comfortable with it, although there will be some deviating from the original story.

      • i think gone are the days of the fantaserye, period dramas and family dramas for the 820PM. kiligserye na ang patok ngaun

      • True that. Pero Pangako sa ‘Yo is a more serious type. Don’t expect the series to be as lighthearted as the previous ones; expect mo na yung mga physical and verbal confrontations sa naturang serye. That was the case in the original PSY in 2000, talagang madrama ang dating. Plus mas mature para kay KathNiel.

The first trailer for the PSY remake will come in tonight’s episode of Forevermore (the last Primetime Bida drama holdout from 2014).

Primetime Bida local dramas after TV Patrol on May 24 2015:
    Pangako Sa ‘Yo
    Bridges of Love

Primetime Bida local dramas after TV Patrol from January 27 to March 7, 2014:
    Got to Believe
    The Legal Wife

    Similarities between those two lineups:
    – First one (under Dreamscape) has the eponymous male child protagonist and is values-oriented
    – Second one (under Star Creatives) star KathNiel in a love story
    – Third one (also under Star Creatives) has an English title, has Jericho Rosales and Maja Salvador in the primary cast and focuses on a love triangle

  2. Gab says:

I hope the guest appearance of Erich Gonzales (who have been starred, then in Two Wives) will be have some twist in the storyline. Galing ng magic tricks ni CGM.

  3. ramones1986 says:

      • JRDV says:

the original version was aired in other countries. I’m pretty sure that PSY remake will make it in other countries, especially in Thailand where KathNiel is increasingly popular.

      • Umabot pa nga hanggang Uganda yung pagkahilig nila sa mga Pinoy teleseryes. We’re definitely being recognized internationally. But like Mr. Christian said, masyado nang repetitive ang mga ganitong formula.

  4. Great. Another Rich Guy, Poor Girl love story. With the cliche storyline of family feuds which will be a hindrance to the relationship of the main characters. Can’t TV networks think of other stories that they can tell to the public. Stories that we haven’t heard or seen in the boob tube? Just stating the facts here.

    • There you are, finally. And yes, the formulas you mentioned have been too repetitive. Love story dito, love story doon. Family feud dito, family feud doon. We’re definitely influenced by the Latin American and East Asian way of telling stories on TV, which is not good at all.

      • Because they cover a lot of topics, compared to our country which is too much loveteams and family squabbles. And they only air once a week, with differing series on different days. Too bad Filipinos have short-term memories when it comes to TV.

      • dagdg mo pa na my short term/attention span/capacity tayo for national news items. madali tayong ma out of focus.

      • Janine says:

i agree, kaya mas gusto ko yung mga korean novelas mas malawak yung mga plots nila pati yung theme ng dramas iba iba.

      • Actually Koreanovelas are like ours: too dependent on love stories, period dramas, fantasy, teen hearthrobs and family feuds. Sa Amerika hindi lang mga yan ang tina-tackle, pati krimen, pulitika, science, astronomy, time and space traveling, at iba pa kasama sa mga plots nila for their programs.

Again, we’re heavily influenced by the Latin American and East Asian way of formulating plots; hindi tayo sanay sa mga Western ideals.

  5. Janine says:

not really, koreanovelas tackles society problems too. parang yung sa Healer and Pinnochio its about journalism, politics and truth vs lies mas may depth yung plot ng stories nila. pati yung sa Kill me, Heal me na about naman sa mental problems, child abuse. i also like western shows like doctor who and grimm. 🙂

    • I see. Pero ours remain a work in progress; kulang sa research ang nangyayari sa mga modern dramas natin, kaya too much on love stories and family feuds ang mga teleseryes these days.
