All signs now point for both ‘Oh My G!’ and ‘The Ryzza Mae Show’ to end very soon.
ABS-CBN has announced that ‘Oh My G!’ is nearing its end, as evidenced by the video teaser below. However, the network has yet to confirm the official date of its series finale.
Airing since January 19, ‘Oh My G!’ essentially replaced ‘Be Careful with My Heart’ in the pre-noontime slot (the anthology ‘Give Love on Christmas’ was aired in the interim). The series starred Janella Salvador, a supporting actress on the latter show, along with Mario Mortel and Manolo Pedrosa.
The shorter-than-expected run of ‘Oh My G!’ should serve ABS-CBN well, as they wanted to avoid a similar fate that befell ‘Be Careful with My Heart’. In addition to ending the series, they also wanted to experiment with something else, perhaps a possible series featuring the budding loveteam of Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
Also ending very soon is its archrival ‘The Ryzza Mae Show’, the TAPE-produced talk show airing on GMA. According to various reports, a new drama series starring Ryzza Mae Dizon and Aiza Seguerra is in the works.
Airing since April 2013, ‘The Ryzza Mae Show’ starred the eponymous child star and 2012 Little Miss Philippines grand winner in the role of ‘the youngest talk show host in the country’. The series essentially served as a ‘show within a show’ as part of ‘Eat Bulaga’.
By all indications, it is clear that TAPE wanted to end ‘The Ryzza Mae Show’ out of fear that Ryzza’s continuous physical and mental growth may take its toll on her and the show she hosts. That said, if Ryzza wanted her progress to continue, she needed to try something else, such as a regular drama.
This should be an interesting second half of 2015 for both ABS-CBN and GMA. Whoever replaces both ‘Oh My G!’ and ‘The Ryzza Mae Show’ should have their work cut out for them.
‘Yung naging acting stint nila Aiza at Ryzza ‘nung Lenten siguro ang dahilan kung bakit ipu-push na nila ang comedy-drama project for them which will replace Ryzza Show. Kasi ‘nung napanood ko ang EB Lenten episode nilang dalawa, very well naman eh.
So, tama rin ang naging forecast ko last year na magfi-final curtain call na rin ang talk show ni Aling Maliit this 2015, due to her age na rin. She’s now 10 years old na, and it’s about time for her to change her image from being so baby-baby star.
Yun na nga. Kailangan na niyang i-expand yung career niya. We’ve seen her act in the Lenten specials before, so makakbuti sa kanyang ang isang full-time series.
And Aiza is familiar with the 11:30 am slot because of BCWMH so Ryzza should do well with her.
At least ABS learned its lessons from Be Careful with my Heart. That show became too long that its story became boring.
Longer stories were the norm in the past. Not anymore. On average four to eight months is the lifespan of a drama series. Oh My G will only last close to that.
Though “Be Careful With My Heart” ran too long, it was able to attract a lot advertisers. The said family-oriented morning drama even had TV spots for some products (which shows the sponsored program’s titlecard at the end of such advertisement), like, for example, Glade Spray, which I saw last year.
It only attracted a whole lot of advertisers because it was a big of a hit then. Even when its audience declined as the show progresses, there is minimal dropoff in the number of ads aired.
Sad for us as TRMS will be end soon, and Ryzza is now merely done on her hosting duties. But nice to see a drama project that will offer to her.
Remember the days that drama and comedies served as the pre-programming of Eat Bulaga during the years when the noontime show stayed on 2.
Even GMA used to do that. Remember Kirara and Mia Gracia?
“[…] [S]eries featuring the budding loveteam of Nadine Lustre and James Reid” = ‘On The Wings of Love’ (produced by Dreamscape, who is also responsible for ‘Give Love on Christmas’; has the first week ready for airing)
Oh My G! final week prediction: later this month
A rumor related to the replacement show of TRMS is that of the possible participation of Ai-Ai delas Alas (currently in Let the Love Begin, the primetime drama, not the movie remake), however that is apparently debunked.
I only said possible because it may still change. So wait for further announcements regarding Oh My G’s replacement.
As for the rumored talk show featuring Ryzza and Ai-Ai, it’s already out of the question. Now we’ll wait and see when this new drama of Ryzza and Aiza will commence.
Ang pagbabalik ng TAPE bilang telenovela producer…
Right now, they’re still sorting out the details. So we’ll have to wait and see when will it premiere.
