TV5’s push for happiness continues.

The Kapatid network recently unveiled a set of new shows in the ‘Hi-Way to Happy’ trade launch at the Metrowalk Tent last June 12. The new shows were a part of TV5’s ongoing pursuit of spreading love and joy to its viewers, not to mention providing something different for people to watch.

Currently ongoing are two programs that premiered within days of the trade launch. They are:

Happy Truck ng Bayan

This variety show is held in various barangays, using a truck that is transformed into a stage. Hosted by Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Derek Ramsey, Gelli de Belen, Mariel Rodriguez, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Empoy Marquez, Tuesday Vargas, Mark Neumann, Shaira Mae dela Cruz, Akihiro Blanco, Chanel Morales, Sophie Albert, Vin Abrenica, Kim Idol and Tom Taus, it premiered last June 14 and airs every Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Hi-5 Philippines

The local franchise of ‘Hi-5’ from Australia features virtually the same basic elements as the original, with a Filipino spin of course. Hosted by Rissey Reyes, Gerard Pagunsan, Alex Reyes, Fred Lo, and Aira Binas, the show airs twice every weekday, at 8:30 a.m. and at 3:45 p.m.

A few other shows are expected to premiere this July. They are:

KISPinoy

This talent search show features aspiring singers who aim to become the next K-Pop stars. Hosted by Richard Gutierrez and Jinri Park, and features judges Rico Blanco, Gelli de Belen and various K-Pop experts, ‘KISPinoy’ premieres on July 11 at 9:00 p.m..

LolaBasyang.com

Starring Boots Anson-Roa, the series will feature the retelling of Lola Basyang’s tales with the use of modern gadgets. ‘LolaBasyang.com’ premieres on July 11.

#ParangNormal Activity

The horror/comedy sitcom will star Ella Cruz as the pretty ghost, starring alongside a trio of nerds played by Shaun Salvador, Ryle Paolo Santiago and Andrei Garcia. ‘#ParangNormal Activity’ premieres on July 11.

No Harm, No Foul

The new sports-themed sitcom will feature Ogie Alcasid, Randy Santiago, Tuesday Vargas, Long Mejia, Eula Caballero, Valeen Montenegro and Sophie Albert, alongside basketball stars Willie Miller, Gary David, Beau Belga, Kiefer Ravena, and Yoyong Martirez. ‘No Harm, No Foul’ premieres on July 5 at 8:00 p.m.

TV5’s new offerings should once again serve up a smile in the viewers’ faces. With that, best of luck to them.

  1. Gab says:

For Lolabasyang and Parang Normal, they will co-produce by TV5 and IdeaSpace Company of the ex-TV5 entertainment head Perci Intalan and his partner, director Jun Lana.

    • MM434 says:

      > KISPinoy [failed to materialize at first on PTV]
Is Richard Gutierrez slated to host a game show on ABS-CBN?

      > Hi-5 Philippines [first aired last June 15]
The half-Filipino female member of the current Hi-5 (House) lineup was in the trade event. Every week there is a ‘song of the week’ (borrowed from the original Australian ones?) performance video that starts and ends every episode. The local edition’s opening CGI sequence is no better than the original’s. Some skits are borderline gags for me.

      > No Harm No Foul
This was first announced at TV5’s trade event for 1H 2015.

Missing: ‘Tanod’, a digital-only series with Jun Sabayton and Ramon Bautista from Kontrabando.

      @marcus
      > IdeaSpace Company
Typo. This should be “The IdeaFirst Company”. And those two productions will air on Saturday nights, if a recently distributed promotional fan is believed.

      • Richard Gutierrez only appeared as a contestant on Kapamilya: Deal or No Deal. Since he’s a freelancer, he can appear in any network, but it’s unlikely he’ll appear in GMA anytime due to extreme circumstances surrounding his departure. And yes, KISPinoy was supposed to be aired on PTV but the government network never fulfilled its promised.

Hi-5 Philippines, for sure, made some revisions from the formula of the original, but the premise stays the same. Of course, they still have some room to improve.

No Harm No Foul was initially announced as part of TV5’s first half lineup, but since the PBA players were busy then, it was pushed back to the second half. I didn’t mention Tanods because it was not part of the trade launch, and because TV5 intended to air this series as an online exclusive program via Digital5, who also air Kontrabando, the extended PBA pregame and postgame shows, Kwentong Barbero and others.

And by the way, you’re mentioning the wrong guy. It was Gab who mentioned IdeaSpace when it’s really IdeaFirst. As for the schedules it is yet to be determined although we know it will be on Saturdays.

  2. Patokaan says:

nabasa ko sa PEP ata na “LolaBasyang.com” will air at 7:00 pm while “#ParangNormal Activity” will air at 8:00 pm.

  3. Nameless says:

About sa NHNF, baka co-production siguro ‘yan ng Sports5 at ng entertainment dept. ng network, I guess. They’re now starting to create synergy between sports and showbiz. But I smell that there are sporty fans na disagree about this project, as they want their hardcourt idols to stay with basketball only.

As for Digital5 shows na na-mention here sa comment thread, IMO ay dapat na sigurong i-cancel na lang nila ‘yun. There are only few netizens lang kasi ang talagang aware about those online shows nila, except for Kontrabando. Sorry to say.

tv5 is now making another round of school tours, just to promote Hi5. Like what i saw at Don Juan Sumulong ES in Antipolo, yesterday. But they’re also displaying new posters for their new shows.

    • If I were you, get lost. Mukhang wala kang faith sa new media. Saka hindi lang TV5 ang may exclusive shows online. Even ABS does that.

As for NHNF, I doubt if Sports5 has a role in the production. However, this isn’t like Manny Pacquiao juggling many roles at the same time. The basketball players have their own lives. Pwede naman silang mag-showbiz if they wish to, as long as it doesn’t affect their basketball careers.

  4. James Ty III says:

You forgot to mention Nike Rise, which is a joint production of Sports5 and Nike Philippines. It features coach Chot Reyes and Jimmy Alapag looking for potential basketball stars. No exact date and time slot, but it will be aired on Sundays starting this July.

Also, Ruffa Gutierrez, Ritz Azul, Gelli de Belen and Lorna Tolentino will have a new sitcom, Misterless Misis, which begins on July 26 at 9 pm replacing Wow Mali. It’s a show inspired by Desperate Housewives.

  5. I hope KIS Pinoy should not fail for the second time even though I won’t be able to watch. (Yeah, screw my life for attending weekend session.)

But the question now hangs: “Will there be an overhaul of rules of selection and elimination or a minor revision for it?”

  6. Jason says:

I would love to see how GMA would combat Happy Truck Ng Bayan(though I haven’t seen the show in its entirety) ,would they still go with those back-to-back movies of theirs?

And how about the anime block though some of the anime are having reruns there would be some new anime shows premiering this second half(I hope).

    • Jason, GMA will FOREVER be a coward to Sunday noon and afternoon showdown. They won’t combat Happy Truck as they started to fight against ASAP directly. Not to mention they lost their precious asset, Janno Gibbs for this new project and Willie can’t compete against them directly. For short, oo, tuloy pa rin ang KMF Back to Back.

Second, how about a big NO since anime block will not notice them kahit sirang plaka na. It’s a “pwede na yan” mentality of such operation for Gozon and Duavit’s joint.

      • Jason says:

I think that’s why TV5 placed Happy Truck at that timeslot .They know that they won’t win against ASAP but they could get viewers out of GMA.

      • But when the measurement of viewers is just a big question. Kantar’s common daily disclosure does not enter TV5’s ratings until primetime; Nielsen did but the common disclosure on the latter is on Mega Manila in order to skew the actual national results.

Still, it remains a two-network war at this time (and forever will be); hence, GMA will still retain such numbers, no matter how hard TV5 tried.

      • Gab says:

As i heard now from sources (of some tabloid), SAS will be axed soon and replaced it w/ a new one.

By the way, Wow Mali was also taking rest on the TV screens last Sunday. (i might think, for good)

      • If that’s the reference, well, it depends on them despite demands over social media. Those keyboard warriors have prying eyes over the limited hours in weekday early afternoons.

    • We’ll have to wait and see if Animega will have new animes coming. And as far as Happy Truck goes, well, it’s just an alternative to what we normally see on TV every Sunday afternoon. Again, TV5 has no intention to compete with ABS and GMA, they simply do their own thing. And it’s very unlikely for GMA to do such a thing for they are still obsessed with beating ABS which they never will.

    • ramones1986 says:

As I know, the Timog Ave. management are totally desperate to catch-up with their counterparts in Mother Ignacia. Hence, there’s a tendency of creative bankruptcy.

  7. James Ty III says:

Jason, Happy Truck ng Bayan is a pre-taped show pero magastos pa rin kasi they’re doing it outside the studio. The truck serves as its stage.

Sunday All-Stars has worsened since Janno and Ogie left. Only Christian, Iya and Mark are carrying that show. As Ralph has always mentioned, GMA’s programming continues to worsen amidst its financial problems and as long as the Gozons continue their attitude, GMA will stay stagnant with its Tagalized movies on Sundays.

    • JRDV says:

Happy Truck is a much costly show indeed, but a great competitor against a show like ASAP na naging institution na for 20 years (but in recent years, mukhang bumaba na ang ratings ng ASAP dahil nagbabago na ang viewing preferences ng tao). As for GMA, with investors backing down, in a matter of years, might go bankrupt.

      • And Happy Truck is a lengthier version of Eat Bulaga’s Juan for All segment, with a few differences. Kung gusto ng something more akin to a weekday variety show on a Sunday, that’s the one.

  8. Jan Caridel Nacito says:

Sometmes I watch TV 5, they do good naman. Sadyang hindi lang siya preference ng karamihan sa atin kaya madalas hindi nakikita sa mga daily results ng mga ratings provider. And from what I have observed from them, wala silang pakialam kung mangaway nang mangaway ang GMA sa ABS-CBN basta they do their thing and they keep the network alive.

    • Indeed. Avoiding competition and forging their own identity has been their foray. That’s why binansagan silang ‘Happy Network’ dahil sa mostly light-hearted na mga programa.

  9. James Ty III says:

Gab, Misterless Misis will premiere on July 26 at 9 pm so Wow Mali will still be aired for three more weeks.

  10. James Ty III says:

Correction. No more Wow Mali and Mac n Chiz starting tomorrow. The movie English Only Please will be shown tomorrow at 9 pm after the premiere of No Harm No Foul. Sports360 will move to the 11 pm time slot.

  11. Jason says:

It’s good to see Perci and TV5 reconciling. Hoping to see more IdeaFirst co-produced shows in TV5. I like the concept of #ParangNormal Activity.

And I hope there’s new anime by July 20 because Sword Art Online will end in Saturday(July 19).

  12. Jc says:

One of TV5’s recent developments aside from its new shows is the debut of the country’s ‘first and only’ 24/7 business and financial news channel, named Bloomberg TV Philippines. I just hope some of the anchors are not Entertainers masquerading as journalists like some of the ones seen on CNNPH. Which continues to be an issue especially on Media Newser even though Claire Celdran returns and Hilary Isaac departs. Let’s see if ANC gets defeated in anchors and content when it comes to business news.

    • What we don’t know is the fate of 9:00 p.m. Saturday after KISPinoy pulled out. Will it be a return of Wattpad rewind, or an earlier timeslot for History with Lourd and Kaya? We’ll still see. As for Misterless Misis, just a short summary on that show soon and it will be ready.

      • James Ty III says:

I will wait for that (Misterless Misis short summary). Lorna T and Ruffa Gutierrez in one show should be interesting, plus Ritz Azul.
