After a three-year absence, ‘Alagang Kapatid’ is returning to the small screen.

The comebacking TV5 public service program will air new episodes starting this Sunday. Hosted by Cheryl Cosim, ‘Alagang Kapatid’ will feature stories of hope and determination from individuals and communities in need, with the Alagang Kapatid Foundation providing urgent assistance in the process.

The original series first aired from 2011 to 2012, and was a weekend morning program that went up against GMA’s ‘Pinoy MD’ and ABS-CBN’s ‘Salamat Dok’. On its return, ‘Alagang Kapatid’ will now air every Sunday at 1:00 p.m., starting November 8.

A radio version of ‘Alagang Kapatid’ will also complement the said program. Hosted by Cheryl Cosim and joined by Alagang Kapatid Foundation chairman Menchie Silvestre, ‘Alagang Kapatid’ on Radyo5 92.3 News FM will air every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. starting today, with a simulcast on AksyonTV and News5Everywhere.

They are returning on air, but changing format (from health and wellness to a public service program)

T3 Alliance will be moving to a new timeslot starting this Sunday at 1:30pm.

    • More appropriate, considering the program’s title inspired the name of the Alagang Kapatid Foundation, which is aimed towards relief and livelihood operations.

As for T3 moving to Sundays, they’re much better off on that timeslot, since they don’t need to compete against SOCO, Failon Ngayon and Imbestigador, and it’s also in line with TV5’s alternative approach. Moreover, they will now have a fixed timeslot, unlike before where they had to air early just for the PBA doubleheaders and other sporting events.

  2. Revel says:

A presscon showing which TV5 shows will be newly launched, renewed for another season, and cancelled in early 2016 is expected in weeks.

    • Cancelled TV5 shows are definitely not in line though. Usually it happens unexpectedly. The only way you’ll know when one show is cancelled is once TV5 updates its schedule on the website.

What we know this week is that Alagang Kapatid is returning, T3 Alliance is moving to a new timeslot, and Master Chef Asia will replace No Harm No Foul. Not to mention that Medyo Late Night Show will be on hiatus and the replays of KBO will take their place, as well as Cool Guys Hot Ramen will be re-aired on Sundays.

  3. James Ty III says:

Masterchef Asia is aired on cable via Lifetime which is also partly run by Viva. Kaya nga nakuha ng TV5 ang free TV rights ng reality show na iyan.

    • That said, Viva is trying to help TV5 become more stable. At this point, TV5’s programming needs a reboot, so Viva stepped in.

Going back to Alagang Kapatid, they can only hope that the revived show would make it past a year. News5 shows have had a tendency to run short-term, so this is a huge test for the public service show to last longer than its fellow News5 counterparts.

The Cotto-Canelo fight will be on November 22 right? Does that mean Alagang Kapatid and T3 will give way? A bad precedent for a returning show, right.
