‘Pasion de Amor’ and ‘On the Wings of Love’ are down to their last five episodes.
The former, first premiered on June 1, 2015, was a remake of the original Colombian telenovela that once aired on ABS-CBN. While the original was a decent success, this localized version of ‘Pasion de Amor’ became an unexpected hit, and in the process blew out the competition (at least until ‘Wowowin’ entered the picture).
Throughout its run, viewers were constantly hooked to the sensually passionate, and at times unpredictable love story involving the Samonte brothers (Jake Cuenca, Ejay Falcon, Joseph Marco) and Elizondo sisters (Ellen Adarna, Coleen Garcia, Arci Muñoz). The presence of villains such as Gabriel (Wendell Ramos) and Gabriela (Teresa Loyzaga) only added fuel to the fire.
On the other hand, the latter, first premiered August 10, 2015, marked the first foray of the JaDine (James Reid, Nadine Lustre) love team into the small screen. Based on their success in films such as ‘Diary ng Panget’ and ‘My Hopeless Romantic’, a lot of expectations were raised for the duo.
These expectations were soon met and exceeded, as ‘On the Wings of Love’ became an immediate success in its timeslot. The series was not without controversy, however, as one stripping scene involving Clark (James) and Leah (Nadine) received negative remarks from the Philippine National Police.
With a final total of 194 and 145 episodes, respectively, there is no doubt that ‘Pasion de Amor’ and ‘On the Wings of Love’ have become one of ABS-CBN’s most successful teleseryes in recent years. While GMA’s own programs tried hard to keep up with the two series, the gap in the ratings proved too much to overcome.
As ‘Pasion de Amor’ and ‘On the Wings of Love’ head to their final week, what fate awaits the former’s Samonte brothers and Elizondo sisters, and the latter’s Clark and Leah? Find out this week as the two series conclude.
As per JaDine, they are now officially a couple. Magkakaroon daw sila ng teleserye sa June.
Ang bilis naman nilang magkaroon ng bagong teleserye. Normally, ABS would have wanted them to take a break and pursue other projects, but perhaps they were not satisfied with OTWOL being placed on a timeslot na mas konti ang viewers (9:20 and beyond is usually the study and bedtime preparation period for young students).
To be honest, masyadong maaga ang June for a new JaDine teleserye. Give them like, for example, six to eight months before making a new teleserye, para naman makapag-recover sila from OTWOL.
What he is saying is they will start planning their next project in June. And may World Tour/Bakasyon sila by March till May para maenjoy nila yun sites and locations ng mga pupuntahan nila lalo na in an actual relationship na sila.
I see. Essentially break muna/meet and greet tapos back to work for a new project. Not bad, dahil kailangan rin nila ng rest and relaxation after OTWOL.
I know. Truly it is a very lucky year for James and Nadine. Numerous Endorsements, Successful concert, game changing teleserye, renewed contract with ABS-CBN and of course their blooming real-life love story which is supported by their friends and their respective families.
Indeed. They’ve come a long way from Diary ng Panget.
True also heard that some endorsements that is suppose to do given to AlDub, sa JaDine nalang ibinigay.
Exactly. They’re also on the rise as we speak, so it’s only logical to give them more endorsements.
Also I heard that OTWOL’s final week is now simulcast worldwide on TFC. But US and Canada will join the live simulcast of the finale tomorrow night which is Friday morning in the US and Canada. And there will be a live viewing party which will be held in Ynares Center in Antipolo City where the entire cast led by JaDine will be there.
Very unprecedented talaga ‘to. This must be like a first on Philippine TV where a teleserye was simulcast via satellite around the world.
Thanks to TFC. And the show promotes pinoys who are living in other parts of the world in order to earn money and send it to their families back in the Philippines.
Indeed. OTWOL is quite an advocacy-filled program, more than just JaDine providing the ‘kilig’.
with or without JaDine, the show will prosper but I think both the magic of their loveteam made it more beautiful to watch. Dun lang sila napansin yun galing sa pag-arte and their friendship, which is now a relationship, had grown stronger because of this project.
That’s right.
At the end scene, LIVE pa dun sa viewing party sa Ynares
In essence, the live viewing party really capped off an impressive run for OTWOL. Certainly worth a lot of thanks for everyone involved, kaya sinama nila ito sa finale.
That is the big surprise na sinasabi sa teaser for the last episode. And the kissing scene which is live, raw, unedited, full of emotions and so real to watch just capped off one of the most successful drama series in Philippine Television History. And the show has given JaDine the right to be called as Phenomenal Loveteam right after KathNiel amd LizQuen were once called by that distinction. And it is for the first time in almost 12 years that a teleserye produced by ABS-CBN goes live for the finale. Truly it was a historic night for Philippine Television because as i said in an earlier comment, every filipino all over the world witness the finale of OTWOL. Either on TV, Pay-Per-View, or internet, the whole filipino community from all over the world witness Philippine TV History.
No doubt about it. That finale just adds to ABS’ reputation as the undisputed leader in our TV industry. So many firsts for the network.
And another first, OTWOL will have a TV special tomorrow which is requested by the fans. Featuring the cast and crew talking about their experience doing this project, BTS from the last week of the show, and it will also serve as JaDine’s first interview as an official couple. It will air after banana sundae.
Great. And deserving too, considering OTWOL’s enduring popularity to Filipinos here and abroad.
Counting the special episode, for the 146th and final time trending ang OTWOL sa social media. Pinakita din nila yun wedding video which is edited by Nice Print Photography. Talagang pinagastusan yun wedding scene.
It was still worth it kahit may gastos. At least na-enjoy ng viewers.
OTWOL’s finale scored high in the ratings, but the OTWOL special ‘On The Wings of Love Achieved From Reel To Real’ is a different story. GMA Blockbusters scored 13.5% based on data from Kantar, while the OTWOL special scored 9.9%.
One factor: madaming nasa mall, public place o simbahan every Sunday afternoon, kaya mababa ratings. Plus they didn’t consider this special for Sunday’s Best due to the need for a bigger audience. Either way, though, that so-called ‘by request’ special from OTWOL fans didn’t fare well.
Sa bagay highlight naman ng palabas is yun tell all interview ng JaDine e.
and what i heard now that JaDine will also do a movie..
it will be produced by Viva Films and finally hindi na based sa Wattpad. There are also reports of a JaDine movie directed by Antoinette Jadaone which is the same director of OTWOL.
This is great. But give them a break first.
Just 9 days after the finale of OTWOL, one of the directors of the program, Francis Pasion died.
R.I.P. Gone too soon.
