The love team of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim are back on the small screen.
Nearly two years after their previous series ‘Ina, Kapatid, Anak’ (with a few box-office hit movies in between), the duo returns to television via the upcoming ABS-CBN drama ‘The Story of Us’. The series debuts tonight as a replacement to the just-concluded hit series ‘On the Wings of Love’.
Kim and Xian play the roles of Tin and Macoy respectively. They were childhood friends turned lovers growing up in El Nido, Palawan with hopes of a better life for themselves and their family.
Their relationship took a huge turn when Tin decided to meet her estranged mother in the United States. Living separately from one another, their relationship grew sour, until five years later, Macoy met Tin in New York in hopes of starting over as a couple.
Still, it will not be easy for them to resume their relationship after a long time apart. It is up to them to find a second chance in love and survive amid these changes in their individual lives.
‘The Story of Us’ will also star Aiko Melendez, Gardo Versoza, Susan Africa, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Bryan Santos, Mara Lopez, Alyanna Angeles (as the young Tin), and Zaijan Jaranilla (as the young Macoy). Richard Somes will be the director of the series.
Following the footsteps of the ever-successful ‘On the Wings of Love’ will not be easy for ‘The Story of Us’. But then again, based on the KimXi tandem’s previous teleserye success, they should do just fine on this newest series.
That said, expect ‘The Story of Us’ to make a quick impression early on. And that should also cause concern to its upcoming rival in GMA’s ‘Because of You’, who failed to make an impact against ‘On the Wings of Love’ for a majority of its run.
‘The Story of Us’ airs weeknights after ‘Dolce Amore’ on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.

Just seen the latest teaser. The pilot episode of The Story of Us will have its “world premiere”. Just like the finale of OTWOL, TSOU pilot will be aired simultaneously worldwide later via The Filipino Channel and TFC.tv.
More history from ABS. They are pretty much on top now.
And as of the moment, the cast and crew are currently in New York City to taped some scenes for some episodes. Talagang ginastusan ng husto ng ABS para maging maganda ang mga palabas nila. From San Francisco (OTWOL) to New York (TSOU). I bet GMA is envious as of this moment.
ABS’ financial capabilities makes it possible for them to tape their teleseryes in the states. But remember, dati na ring nag-shoot ng teleserye ang GMA sa New York (I Luv NY), back when they were still financially strong to make such teleseryes.
True. Back to TSOU, they also shoot in the beautiful islands of El Nido in Palawan.
Indeed, and as mentioned earlier, the characters of Kim and Xian grew up there together.
It would be hard though for TSOU to follow suit to what OTWOL had accomplish but it will be a good show. Hopefully KimXi will have the same success as JaDine.
KimXi were already established as one of ABS-CBN’s love teams. As for their success with The Story Of Us, better wait and see if it will deliver strong ratings.
It shouldn’t be a problem though, since ABS has had the momentum on primetime.
Everybody knows that but may separation anxiety ang mga tao sa OTWOL. The fact that its close to real life kaya nahook ang mga tao sa show. Well as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
In short, hintayin na lang natin ang verdict. But remember, OTWOL also took some time gaining an audience early on, so may oras pa ang viewers to get used to TSOU.
why do I have a feeling that this show will not meet the expectations from higher ups.
It will reach its expectations when people will get use to watching it. Kaya lang the impact of OTWOL was so huge na parang nawawala na yun pagiging home sick ng mga ofws kasi nakikita nila sa mga characters ang paghihirap ng mga ofws.
Indeed. New story, new stars, and a new direction. That’s why it will take time for The Story of Us to become a hit in its own right. Let that sink for a moment dahil first week pa lang nito.
the show barely reached 20% ratings nationwide during its first week, considering the program before TSOU is Dolce Amore rates around 35-36% average, this is a problem for Primetime Bida. if this goes within a month without hitting at least 23-24% then the show might be cancelled considering the cost to produce this series
And also take note that some Filipino actors that are being relocated to US will play several roles in The Story of Us. Remember Princess Punzalan?
That’s even worse. The not-so impressive ratings suggest that The Story of Us really needed a better timeslot than the 9:15 they are placed right now. If we recall, Kim and Xian’s prior series My Binondo Girl and Ina, Kapatid, Anak aired at around 8:30, which is where viewership usually peaks on primetime.
At this point, however, ABS has no choice, since Ang Probinsyano and Dolce Amore are already locked in and they have no intention of changing timeslots. But still, patience is a virtue despite the slow start, so let’s just see how it goes.
that is the thing about the third timeslot. that timeslot is usually reserve for more matured dramas. And that is the time where people go to sleep. The question there is can the fans of KimXi stay up late just to watch their show? Let’s just wait if they can duplicate the success of their past shows to this one.
Understandably so, given the likes of The Legal Wife and Two Wives were successful in that timeslot. But then again, Pasion de Amor was a mature drama, and became a hit even though it aired before TV Patrol.
it maybe just bad timing for KimXi,
The Story of Us is now down to its last three weeks, based on their latest teasers
Good to see ABS announce an impending finale of a teleserye, unlike their Kapuso neighbors. Now we wait on its replacement.
Most likely, the replacement will be “Born for You” (Janella/Elmo)
Looks like the young’uns are the trend right now, which is why The Story of Us had a short and a bit unimpressive run.
IDK if the upcoming love team of Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador will be a huge fit for the viewers. Let’s wait and see.
They’re still new to the situation as far as we’re concerned, especially Elmo who is only on his first ABS teleserye after leaving GMA.
Interesting, aside from Born for You, pati rin ang “The Promise of Forever” starring Paulo Avelino, Ejay Falcon at ang pinakabagong kapamilya na si Ritz Azul ay pinag-aabangan ng mga fans dahil maganda ang pag-arte ni Ritz Azul sa Ang Probinsyano (ayon sa mga viewers ng show pati nagulat raw ang GMA at TV5 sa malaking break niya). Nakuha ko ‘to mula sa ibang website pati sa ibang social networking sites (My observation and my opinion lang po ito). Rampant kasi noong lumipat si Ritz sa ABS-CBN from TV5 on or before April 12, 2016 for boosting her career. Salamat.
All we need is a confirmation from the PR department of ABS para maging official.
