‘To the Top’, you’ve got company.
Just recently, ABS-CBN announced audition dates for the upcoming boyband search show ‘La Banda’. The auditions will take place on the following dates:
- June 10: Robinsons Place Pangasinan
- June 11-12: Starmall San Jose del Monte Bulacan
- June 15-16: Centrio Mall Cagayan de Oro
- June 17-18: KCC Mall Zamboanga
- June 18-19: Starmall Alabang
- June 22: KCC Mall General Santos
- June 24-25: Pacific Mall Legazpi
The auditions will begin at 7:00 a.m. Boys aged 14-25 years old and with the ability to both dance and sing are welcome in this competition.
The latest international franchise acquired by ABS-CBN, ‘La Banda’ was created by Simon Cowell and was produced by Univision. The original show, which emphasized on the formation of a Latin American boyband, was aired on Univision in late 2015.
However, this is not the first time that a boyband talent search show will air on Philippine television. Nearly a year ago, GMA did the same thing when they produced ‘To the Top’ in conjunction with GMA Public Affairs.
Unlike GMA, however, ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs will have no involvement in the making of ‘La Banda’. Considering how poorly-received ‘To the Top’ was when it aired, it was only appropriate for ABS-CBN to let the ever-strong entertainment group do the talking rather than share the blame with its news department.
Over the next several weeks, ABS-CBN will have the responsibility of picking the best young boys who will have what it takes to be in a boyband. In the meantime, wait for further updates regarding the hosts and judges of ‘La Banda’.
‘La Banda: the Making of the Pinoy Boyband’ is expected to premiere during the third quarter of this year. Date and time will be determined soon.
For more information on the auditions, go to ABS-CBN’s official website or on their social media accounts for details.
If To The Top was flop (THANK YOU GMA NEWS), I’m sure that our local adaptation of La Banda will be a huge success, citing ABS-CBN’s success in producing high-quality reality shows. As for the upcoming boyband na mananalo sa La Banda, I think they will have a bright future in the music industry considering ABS-CBN’s success.
And unlike To the Top, don’t expect ABS to air La Banda at later than 10:00 p.m. for the sake of viewership. GMA executives should watch this show in the event they decided to make another season of To the Top, because they made too many mistakes in producing the first season.
La Banda has now changed into “Pinoy Boy Band Superstar”.
Meanwhile, the three judges of the competition was revealed, including Vice Ganda, Yeng Constantino and K-Pop Superstar Sandara Park.
Apparently La Banda was a hardly recognizable name, so good call for ABS. But they need to clarify if this is a self-produced series or a franchised series, because as we know, La Banda was an imported program from the US.
Another franchised show? Seems like they are just relying on what is hot internationally than making their own shows. Even if they are trending, rating or whatever, the fact that they cant do their own reality show or game show shows the lack of creativity of the writers of the network. If GMA is still relying on Koreanovelas for ratings, ABS is relying on franchised shows for ratings as well.
At least they’re making a Pinoy spin into it. Besides, the rest of the world are doing franchised shows now; even GMA does that with their Lip-Sync Battle Philippines. You can disagree all you want but even with the so-called franchised show invasion, there is still room for original shows. So deal with it.
bakit wlang audition sa davao city?
I don’t know. Better ask ABS about this.
sayang wala pala dito sa cebu:(
Inquire ABS if they still have auditions in your area. If it’s already done, there’s nothing I can do.
This show, now titiled Pinoy Boyband Superstar is expected to premiere in September replacing The Voice Kids Season 3.
You can bet on that.
I am correct! It will replace The Voice Kids, as this show will premiere in September
and two of their judges are already revealed: Vice Ganda and Sandara Park.
TVK3 premiered around May, and now are in the knockout rounds.
The other one revealed as Yeng Constantino, while its 4th judge will be announced soon.
Billy Crawford will host the program.
Premiere date na lang ang hihintayin.
Aga Muhlach, who is just returned in ABS-CBN, will complete the “superstar judges” ensemble of PBBS. This marked the return of Muhlach in PHL television. His last TV project was the travel show Pinoy Explorer on TV5.
It’s been a while for him, and considering TV5’s recent plight and GMA’s own struggles, he wisely came home to where it all started.
It will be premiering on September 2016, replacing The Voice Kids
What I’m saying is the official premiere date. I know it will start on September, ok.
September 10, 2016 is the official premiere date, as The Voice Kids concludes this week, and there will be a post-competition concert for the following week.
And GMA might counter TVK finale with movies just like last year. Abangan na lang natin ang schedule ng GMA sa Sabado at sa Linggo kung totoo yan.
If I were Rasonable, just air regular programming. Airing movies against TVK finale is what cowards do for a living.
