Sunshine Dizon is indeed a loyal and distinguished star.
Amid a string of talents who switch back and forth between network giants ABS-CBN and GMA, there was Sunshine Dizon. It had been two decades since she rose to stardom via the original ‘Anna Karenina’, and yet despite the ascension of younger stars in recent years, Sunshine stayed loyal to GMA, willing to play a role when necessary.
After her character Adhara was killed off in the 2016 version of ‘Encantadia’, Sunshine was given a new role in the upcoming series ‘Ika-6 na Utos’. The upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series was a perfect fit for her, considering the recent issues that followed her separation with then-husband Timothy Tan.
In ‘Ika-6 na Utos’, Sunshine plays Emma, a sweet and cheerful souvenir merchant. She was married to a refined pilot named Rome (Gabby Concecpion), but their marriage was disapproved by Rome’s mother Margarita (Carmen Soriano) due to Emma’s poor upbringing.
As a result, Rome had no choice but to fall in love with another woman, a sexy and ambitious interior designer named Georgia (Ryza Cenon). Upon learning her husband’s fate, Emma vows to fight for the right to love her husband, and force Rome to stay away from Georgia.
‘Ika-6 na Utos’ also stars Mike Tan, Rich Asuncion, Daria Ramirez, Marco Alcaraz, Mel Martinez, and Arianne Bautista. The series is directed by Laurice Guillen.
If the story of ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ seems familiar, it is that the series is just another ‘kabitserye’, a subsection of the Filipino teleserye which centers on husbands or wives getting cheated by another man or woman. While most ‘kabitseryes’ air during the late evenings, ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ is a unique exception, in that it airs in the early afternoon.
That said, it will be interesting to see how a ‘kabitserye’ like ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ will fare in an unfamiliar timeslot. Considering that ‘It’s Showtime”s popular ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ segment also airs during this time period, a tough challenge awaits ‘Ika-6 na Utos’, so good luck to the people behind this series.

Nationwide nga, kaso urban areas lang. I still think Kantar is the more trusted firm, even though ABS is the only network subscribed to it, because it covers all areas, not just urban.
Anyway, I have no hope for these dramas that follow similar narratives. Parang sirang plaka.
Kung kabitserye po ito, ang title po nito dapat ay Ang ika 7 utos po kasi biblically ang ika 7 na utos po ay “You shall not commit adultery”… basa po tayo ng Bible…

I appreciate your thoughts pero may iba’t ibang interpretation ang Ten Commandments depending on your religious beliefs. Let’s leave it at that.
Hindi ko po ma gets ang title ng palabas na ito, Biblically kasi ang ika 6 anim na utos ay “Huwag kang papatay”…. basa-basa po tayo ng Bible huwag po tayong sunod sunoran nalang sa mga bulag na leader ng simbahan… ika-nga sa Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
Mali po ang title nito kasi kung kabetserye nga ito ang title po nito dapat ay “Ang ika 7 na utos”, kasi biblicaly ang ika 6 na utos po ay “You shall not kill”… Basa po tayo ng Bible, huwag po puro Facebook…
Good point. This was an unfortunate oversight on GMA’s part. I wonder if the network’s management actually go to Bible study on weekends, because if they don’t, this was one huge mistake they will regret.
Christian denominations indeed have differences in numbering the Ten Commandments.
As for Menchu and Raymond, the numbering you commented is based on the Protestant, Evangelical (Born Again), Septuagint and Talmud.
However, the show title’s numbering is based on Catholic and Lutheran interpretation.
Surprisingly, GMA abstains itself from airing Catholic programming save for Holy Week, so it’s ironic to see them use a Biblical passage for a teleserye.
The title of the Afternoon Prime is align ironically with Catholic version of the Ten Commandments. The sixth commandment among Protestants is thou shalt not kill.
Both Protestants and Catholics use the same Bible, but that alone obviously makes them different from one another.

At hinati nila sa dalawa ang 10th commandment, ginawaang 9th at 10th kaya kumpleto parin… kaya salamat nalang din sa movie na ito dahil dito nakapag search ako sa google at nalaman ko na ang catholic teachings ay hindi biblical, kaya pinag-iisipan ko na ngayon kung anong gagawin ko….heheh

Starting this week, Ika-6 na utos will now be aired 6 times a week as it now airs on Saturdays. We don’t which show will be bump off the after Eat Bulaga timeslot.
Any confirmation of this? I just want to make sure that this news is indeed true.

Everyday i watch this teledrama ika 6 except sunday.. sometimes im dissapointed why puro problema can you make the viewer happy nman nkaka stress… nkulong si rome nkatakas nkuha ng demonyitang georgia.. tapos ngayon ngkaron ng skit si rome na bbalik sa pagkbata bcoz of lack of oxygen in his brain mwawalan siya ng memory WOW pamptagal pwede bang bigyan ng linaw ang mga dapat linawin at di puro psakit😠😥😢

It’s no secret that teleseryes, regardless of popularity, always use the same old formula per program. Sabunutan there, sampalan there, plus the rich vs poor dynamic and third party relationships. They repeat this all the time. No wonder our brand of storytelling has gone stale because we depend too much on these stereotypes and fail to explore other genres.
Because of teleseryes, the television landscape is no longer as formidable as they were in the 80s or early 90s. Versatility in programming disappeared because of them. All they care is money, not quality.

Over one year later and the show is still going strong (though apparently it’s ending soon; next month if another commenter on this website is to be believed). Looks like the infamous nerf (not water) gun scene (among other scenes) paid off. Not bad for GMA considering IANU is pretty much their one show these days where ABS has trouble beating on a consistent basis. Once IANU ends, it’s going to be a big void for its replacement to fill in, and if GMA isn’t careful, afternoon supremacy could swing back to Kapamilya Gold.
Then again, that will depend on how ABS will stay creative in their storytelling. This is what they lacked on Pusong Ligaw and The Better Half which GMA took advantage (IANU pretty much lifted the fortunes of its succeeding dramas for much of last year).
