One of Barangay LS 97.1’s longest-serving jocks has signed off for good.
Popular on-air personality Papa Dan officially called it quits following his final broadcast on February 10, 2017. A standout from his days with Campus Radio 97.1, Papa Dan hosted the primetime show ‘Wanted Sweetheart’ prior to his departure.
Papa Dan’s departure from Barangay LS 97.1 came nearly a month after rival jock Papa Jack resigned from 90.7 Love Radio. With the loss of two highly-regarded DJs, it is clear that a new era in primetime ‘masa’ radio is well underway.
One can only hope that Barangay LS 97.1 will find a suitable replacement for Papa Dan. After all, his shoes, much like that of Papa Jack on Love Radio, will be hard to fill.
According to the people of Papa Jack’s salon near my place (yes, many have been asking them about it since December), he might move to Barangay LS. But nothing is final yet.
At bago pa nito, nauna nang umalis si Chico Loco ng Yes FM, 2 years ago before he migrated to Dubai to become a DJ of an all-Filipino radio station there
With all these developments, Chacha of MOR 101.9 could take advantage. Kaso she’s currently on vacation. It’s going to be a wide-open field for masa stations every night from this day forward.
Speaking of Campus Radio, pwede ka po bang gumawa ng article tungkol dun? Di ko na naabutan yun eh pero mukhang malakas ang naging impluwensiya nun sa ’90s kids.
Would it be nice if you can do it by yourself and get some help/collaboration in the PH Radio FB Group?
Ralph doesn’t have all day to tackle — he’s doing it one post at a time.
Besides kuyazack you haven’t posted even a single article in your blog for a long time. It’s up to you to write the article that you’re suggesting to me. I won’t help you though, you must do it alone.
Update: So it seems Papa Dan has retired from radio. Nasa Australia na siya
Oh well. We’ve seen former jocks migrate after retirement before, so that’ nothing new.
Mukhang si Papa Bol na ang replacement ni Papa Dan sa Wanted Sweetheart since last Monday. Regarding Papa Bol, he was a DJ of RGMA’s Barangay 102.3 in General Santos City.
Papa Jack (now Papa J) will have his show on Energy FM starting next Monday.
Yes I heard it already. Naninibago na talaga ang ihip ng hangin when it comes to late-night radio.
