The revenge of the Kapamilya Asianovela continues.
On Monday, ABS-CBN will premiere not one, but two Asianovelas on the same day. The two series are as follows:
Legend of the Blue Sea
Starring Lee Min-ho and Jun Ji-hyun, ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ tells the love story of a con-artist and a mermaid who travels across the ocean to find him. The series aired in its native Korea from November 2016 to January 2017 and earned six SBS Drama Awards.
‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ also spawned a soundtrack album starring some of Korea’s top artists. More importantly, the series is aired in syndication in select Asian countries, the United States, and Canada.
Goblin
Best known in its native Korea as ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ and known internationally as ‘Goblin’, this drama tells the story of an immortal goblin who, along with an amnesiac grim reaper, takes care of the afterlife and evaluates all souls who pass here. However, a woman with an innate ability to see ghosts soon falls in love with the goblin and ended up becoming engaged with him.
The series stars Gong Yoo, Kim Go-eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-jae. It ran from December 2016 to January 2017 and was popular (though controversial at times) in both Korea and international markets.
‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ will be assigned to the Kapamilya Gold block replacing ‘Minute to Win It’, while ‘Goblin’ will be placed on Primetime Bida’s final slot to replace ‘Love in the Moonlight’. While ‘Goblin’ will have no problems filling in on primetime, ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’ will have their hands full considering that not all areas will receive the Koreanovela at the same time.
Nevertheless, the premiere of two Kapamilya Asianovelas this Monday should add more excitement to KDrama fans. After several years of on-and-off Koreanovelas, all signs indicate that ABS-CBN’s FTHA (First and True Home of Asianovelas) slate is back in business.
idk about cignal but skycable is now offering abscbn regionals – a channel totally dedicated for the locals. In our property in Baguio alone such channel airs the TVP North Luzon, Ilokano dubbed movies, koreanovelas and more. I wonder if Cignal subcribers cater such channel but we didn’t experience regional programming in ABS CBN 2.
But as Joshua once pointed out, not all regional versions of TV Patrol are aired in that new channel. Anyway, that’s no longer your concern since you don’t see regional programs at all. The rest will have no choice but to endure watching a Koreanovela the following morning which means Magandang Buhay will have to be cut short. And that’s a harsh truth.
And also most of the regional newscast of TV Patrol is on youtube. If they can find a way to fix the schedule like giving the allotted time for regional and syndicated programming, they might solve this problem.
Exactly. We’ve been advocating that for some time now. ABS should’ve known better.
And if I was ABS, I would sell a few of my stations to affiliate partners so they can have different programming like in the US. And if the network wants a stabilize schedule, they should shift from daily airing on prime time into once a week airing. Like the allotted time for us networks to air their prime time schedule is 8-11. That way people will wait for their favorite show to air the following week and of course more rest time for the actors and production staff. At least walang mamamatay nangdahil sa overwork.
We’ve been saying that many times over. Let’s just hope that ABS finally comes to their senses and realize what they’re doing is risky to all involved.
Sa madaling salita yung legend of the blue sea mapapanood ng umaga sa probinsiya pero puputulin ng magandang buhay nanaman.
Exactly. The regionals of ABS are always a problem spot na hindi man lang nila nareresolba.
LOTBS in regionals will be broadcast every 9:30 pm. KDrama fans will be dissapointed with this..
Actually 9:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. Regardless, I’m disappointed with the way ABS handled its programming on the regional networks. The 5:00 p.m. slot where regional versions of TV Patrol air in the provinces (and the 9:00 a.m. slot of affected programs) continues to be an issue for them.
Just announced tonight: Legend of the Blue Sea will be airing on Primetime Bida soon.
Another Koreanovela rerun. Much like GMA producing costly fantaseryes, ABS is becoming more addicted in replaying these Koreanovelas.
