The Philippines’ longest-running active television series reaches another milestone.
ABS-CBN’s ‘Ang Probinsyano’ recently celebrated its 100th week with a press conference and a benefit concert in front of injured soldiers at the V. Luna Medical Center. The concert is a way to not only commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of these soldiers, but also to boost their morale amid the ongoing crisis in Marawi.
As of August 4, 2017, ‘Ang Probinsyano’ has a total of 480 episodes to its resume. It is expected to reach the 500-episode mark by September, which will also mark its second anniversary.
Starring Coco Martin, Yassi Pressman, Ms. Susan Roces and Awra Briguela among others, ‘Ang Probinsyano’ airs weeknights after ‘TV Patrol’ on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
We don’t know how this show will end but at least another achievement for a show which is a mirror of reality. Though the show has been off it’s stride due to new cast members, the show continues to deliver not only the ratings but also the money due to merchandise sales etc.
Criticism aside, as long as they’re still winning, they can last for as long as they want. Wait till 2018 and see what happens next.
I really think it’s a wasted opportunity of them for not debuting a new show on the 3rd slot.
If you’re fed up with ALTL then I suggest you stop watching, because for some reason, viewers don’t get tired of watching that show contrary to what you claim. Notwithstanding the ‘boring’ storyline that you think, ALTL is still winning in the ratings. Then again, that gradual dropoff from AP-LLS-ALTL is due to the changing demographics of viewers, because by the time of ALTL, most kids are preparing for school such as homework or rest, kaya it’s mostly catered to teens and adults. Even GMA Telebabad endures that dropoff from teleserye to teleserye.
Kung sa tingin mo ay ‘antok-serye’ ang ALTL, tingin mo ba ay ‘antok-serye’ na rin ang ‘I Heart Davao’? Because from that perspective, you claim that all the kilig-seryes at night are what you call ‘antok-serye’ dahil boring daw at hindi dramatic ang mga ito. Ganon ba ang iniisip mo?
I heart Davao IMO is an example of ass kissing after they got their renewal. Nothing more. ABCBN’s 3rd slot needs an action serye/kabitserye to capitalize on LLS viewers.
To be honest masyadong conflicting ang mga sinasabi mo. Like I said, if you’re bored with ALTL’s story then better stop watching. Lipat ka na lang ng ibang channel. After all the viewers of that show aren’t necessarily bored and are actually enthusiastic contrary to your claims.
However, let me remind you na what you’re suggesting may be too much and too boring to the eyes as well. Kabitserye sa hapon tapos sa gabi pa? Sobra na. And another action series? Lalong dadagdag sa gastusin pagka ganoon. That’s why there are primetime series na may pagka-light ng konti para hindi naman sumakit ang ulo ng mga manonood.
Kilig seryes had been the staple in the 3rd slot since OTWOL and Because of You in 2015. I don’t see ABS and GMA going away from the current norm anytime soon.
Exactly. Too much of the same could be cause for criticism among the viewing public. That’s why networks have to be very versatile when it comes to airing teleseryes. If they air too much of the same thing, chances are viewers will tune out.
We’ll see about that come September. The only kilig show they have in production is that Jodi series. Other shows have action/fantasy element to them. Born For You started the antok serye for that slot.
