In 150 Words: Weightlifting Fairy Finale on ABS-CBN

Short and sweet.

This week will officially close the book on the ABS-CBN Koreanovela ‘Weightlifting Fairy’. Starring Lee Sung-kyung, Nam Joo-hyuk, Lee Jae-yoon and Kyung Soo-jin, the series first aired on Monday, July 10, and will finish with around 40 episodes when it’s all said and done.

One of the Philippines’ most highly anticipated Koreanovelas and one of the most successful Korean series ever, ‘Weightlifting Fairy’ tells the story of struggling weightlifter Kim Bok-joo who fell in love with swimmer Jung Joon-hyung. However, Bok-joo was soon charmed by Joon-hyung’s brother Jung Jae-hyi, and the chase for both love for work and love for someone is on.

Like ‘Love in the Moonlight’ and ‘Legend of the Blue Sea’, the success of ‘Weightlifting Fairy’ could result in the series getting reaired on ABS-CBN in the near future. But even without an impending rerun, Koreanovela fans should be satisfied with how ‘Weightlifting Fairy”s story turned out.

In real life, hiwalay na ang dalawang bida doon… sayang ang relationship nila. Waht is the reason of their breakup?? Pero due to our criticism, LOTBS is back but on the Primetime airwaves. Yun ang kapalit ng WF.

    • IDK. Basta the viewers and fans were shocked. Anyway, on-screen they can expect a happy ending but that won’t replace what happened in real life.

As for LOTBS, it’s good that ABS will reair the show on primetime since many can’t even watch the show in the afternoon due to regionals’ TV Patrol. But we’ll see if it will translate to better ratings.

Sabi nila conflict sa schedules nila and too busy sa mga own projects that they don’t have time for each other. Iba kasi ang star system sa Korea. Hinde uso ung mga loveteams that would stay together for different series and movies. Pero sobrang kinilig talaga ako sa WF. This drama made me come back to watching kdramas.

      • In essence, per project lang ang mga love team sa Korea, which is a either a good or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Regardless, if a duo was able to click, it may be a sign that they’ll be together for a long time, even though they might get a new on-screen partner in later projects.

Anyway, enjoy WF’s finale later tonight.

Then again, they should look at what to do and what not to do when translating a Koreanovela.
