A brand-new Kapamilya Gold awaits viewers later today.
As previously announced, ‘And I Love You So’ will take over the slot once occupied by the recently concluded (albeit short-lived) series ‘Walang Iwanan’. The new series, starring Julia Barretto, Miles Ocampo, Angel Aquino and Dimples Romana, will air after ‘All of Me’.
The revamp does not end there, however. Starting today, the News and Current Affairs block will no longer air on Kapamilya Gold, and will instead move back to its original timeslot following ‘Bandila’.
The NCA block lineup will remain the same following the timeslot change. ‘Mission Possible’ airs on Mondays, followed by ‘My Puhunan’ on Tuesdays, ‘Red Alert’ on Wednesdays, ‘Sports U’ on Thursdays, and ‘Tapatan ni Tunying’ on Fridays.
Now that the NCA block has moved to late nights, how will this affect the Kapamilya Gold lineup in the regions? As it stands, this is how the Kapamilya Gold block will look like starting today, as far as Metro Manila viewers are concerned.
2:45 p.m. – Doble Kara
3:30 p.m. – All of Me
4:15 p.m. – And I Love You So
5:00 p.m. – Kapamilya Deal or No Deal
One program likely to be affected with the change in the regions will be ‘Kapamilya Deal or No Deal’. With the regional networks’ own broadcast of ‘TV Patrol’, they may be forced to preempt ‘Kapamilya Deal or No Deal’ in their area.
As such, the ‘available in select areas’ advisory may apply during episode previews for ‘Kapamilya Deal or No Deal’, in order to inform viewers of a possible preemption. Here’s how it may potentially look like in the regional networks.
2:45 p.m. – Doble Kara
3:30 p.m. – All of Me
4:15 p.m. – And I Love You So
5:00 p.m. – Kapamilya Deal or No Deal/TV Patrol regionals
That said, ABS-CBN has a decision to make regarding Kapamilya Gold in the regions. After all, they don’t want to risk shedding some viewers outside Metro Manila with this move.
I think “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” will be airing at the 9:00 a.m. slot on weekdays (for some, if not most, of the regional stations). I saw it kanina here in our area (Cebu).
CONT.: On a tape-delayed basis, though.
That could seriously affect the ratings of the show in the provinces. 9:00 a.m. is usually among the least-watched timeslots on TV.
If that’s the case, then ABS-CBN Cebu (and I think other ABS-CBN regional stations) perhaps made a bad decision. Unfortunately, a friend from ABS-CBN Cebu told me they have no other choice but to air at such timeslot, since the other timeslots of the day which they can use to air “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” are also occupied by ABS-CBN’s other high-rating shows. I think this is a hard situation to cope with, in my personal viewpoint.
Their decision to move the NCA programs to late nights is due to ratings and programming mismatch. These programs endure a significant ratings dropoff following the teleseryes and before KDOND, that is why ABS had to make such a sacrifice in hopes of becoming more competitive against Afternoon Prime. Problem is, they don’t realize that KDOND may be affected by the TV Patrol regionals in the long run, and national ratings of the show may suffer in the process.
Kahit apektado ang KDOND, at least makikinabang na ang TVP Regionals dahil sa extended time slot. They used to air TVP Regionals around 5:20pm, but with this move, I think regional viewers that depend on TVP Regionals (especially on areas in which GMA used to have their own regional newscasts) will benefit. 45-50 minutes is already enough for TVP Regionals, especially sa areas na maraming news items na kailangang ireport like Cebu and Davao.
Still, they have to work on these pros and cons. Hindi naman pwedeng sa low-rating timeslot na lang ang KDOND sa regions, considering its success.
Looks like ABS will air a Koreanovela soon on Kapamilya Gold. My Love, Donna ang pangalan ng naturang Koreanovela at magsisimula yan sa Marso 14. According to reports, it might replace And I Love You So.
Seriously, though, what was ABS thinking? Akala ko ok na silang hindi mag-import ng Koreanovela (declining popularity and editing criticisms one of the reasons), pero this? I really don’t understand their motives.
I think it might be a filter program for a new show that would air in that timeslot.
It really doesn’t make sense at this point. Why would they go back to airing Koreanovelas kung masaya na sila sa kanilang programming lineup na 95% local? And why use Koreanovelas kung extremely short-term lang ang mga ito?
The same sentiment is now being shared on the Philippine Television Through the Years Facebook group (see link below). I suggest that you should join the group (if you have Facebook) at magbigay ng iyong opinyon, Mr. Tiamson.
